Apple removed VPN apps from the Chinese app store. People use these to get around the Great Firewall, and China has been cracking down on all ways to do that. Classic problem for global tech companies: in principle, you should obey local laws and not ignore sovereignty, but what if that compromises your principles? Do you just leave (as Google did)? Where are your red lines? Note that Apple hasn’t (for example) disabled end-to-end encryption on devices sold in China, much as the government would like it.
